Peh is the mouth, with all its uses. The Old Testament uses it richly: words spoken, food received, a kiss given, an edge (“mouth”) of a sword.

Most weightily, the prophets attach their oracles to “the mouth of the LORD.” When the peh of God speaks, the matter is settled — “the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.”
