Rav means many, great, abundant — used of multitudes, generations, and the LORD's «great» love. Goes with chesed in some of the Bible's warmest lines.
Rav is a versatile adjective: many, great, abundant. The Psalms speak of God's «rav chesed» — abundant steadfast love.
It runs through Israel's faith: God's mercies are rav; his salvation is rav; his thoughts toward us are rav (Psalm 40:5). The Old Testament's God is never miserly.
