Katangellō means to announce publicly, to declare. In Acts it is what the apostles do: they katangellō Christ in synagogues, marketplaces, and palaces.

Paul tells the Corinthians, «as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.» Christian preaching is at root the announcement of an event.
