Greek word · Strong's G2147

εὑρίσκω

heurískō · verb · “to find”

In a sentence

Heuriskō means «to find» — used of finding a coin, a sheep, a hidden treasure, and supremely the kingdom of God by those who seek.

Heuriskō runs through Jesus' parables — the lost sheep found, the lost coin found, the prodigal son found alive. «I have found my sheep that was lost.»

It also names what disciples find: a hidden treasure, a pearl of great price, the kingdom of heaven. Jesus promises, «seek, and you will find.»
