Greek word · Strong's G1565

ἐκεῖνος

ekeînos · word · “that, that one”

In a sentence

Ekeinos means "that, that one" — a pointing word that often signals the great Day, or the One. "On that day (en ekeinē tē hēmera) you will know that I am in my Father."

Ekeinos points farther off than houtos ("this") — across distance, time, or specialness.

The Gospels use it of "that day" — the eschatological day of the Lord — and of "that one," Jesus, Moses, or another figure named with emphasis.
