Greek word · Strong's G100
ἁδρότης
hadrótēs · word · “exultation, joyful praise”
In a sentence
Agalliasis is exultation — wild, leaping joy. It is the word for the kind of praise that bursts forth: Mary's spirit "rejoices (ēgalliasen) in God my Savior."
Agalliasis is not a quiet contentment but a leaping, almost ecstatic joy. It belongs to moments when grace overflows the cup.
Luke uses it of Mary's Magnificat and of the early church's glad and generous hearts. Where God's saving work breaks in, this joy follows.
