Micah (prophet)

A prophet contemporary with Isaiah whose book denounces injustice and pride, foretells the Messiah's birth in Bethlehem, and names the heart of true religion: do justice, love kindness, walk humbly.

Micah prophesied against the wealthy oppression of the poor and the corruption of religious leaders.

His most famous lines: "What does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" (6:8).

He foretold the Messiah's birthplace: "But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah… from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel" (5:2).
