Manasseh
The elder son of Joseph, also blessed by Jacob — though under Ephraim — and the head of one of Israel's tribes, settled on both sides of the Jordan.
Manasseh ("making to forget") was Joseph's firstborn, named for God's mercy in helping Joseph forget his suffering.
Jacob blessed him second, beneath Ephraim — but his tribe was large enough to settle on both sides of the Jordan.
Manasseh and Ephraim together took the inheritance that would have gone to Joseph, so that Joseph effectively received a double portion.
