Luke

A Gentile physician and traveling companion of Paul — author of the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts, careful historian of Jesus and the early church.

Luke says he carefully investigated all that had happened «from the beginning» (Luke 1:1–4). His two-volume work — Luke and Acts — is the longest written contribution to the New Testament.

He highlights Jesus' compassion for the poor, the marginalized, and women, and in Acts traces how the gospel moves from Jerusalem to Rome. Paul calls him «the beloved physician»; tradition honors him as a thoughtful, careful witness.
