Corinth
A wealthy and morally chaotic Greek port city where Paul stayed eighteen months — and to whose church he later wrote 1 and 2 Corinthians.
Corinth straddled an isthmus and controlled trade between two seas. It was famous for commerce, the Isthmian games, and an unrestrained moral life. Paul came in «weakness and much fear» (1 Cor 2:3) and stayed eighteen months.
The church he planted there was gifted but divided and immature. His Corinthian letters address everything from communion abuses and lawsuits between Christians to spiritual gifts and the resurrection — practical theology born from a real, messy congregation.
