Ascension

The bodily lifting up of the risen Jesus into heaven forty days after Easter — where he reigns at the Father's right hand, sends the Spirit, and prays for his people.

Acts 1 records that the risen Jesus, after teaching his disciples for forty days, was «lifted up» before their eyes and «a cloud took him out of their sight.» Two angels said he would return in the same way.

The ascension is not Jesus leaving but Jesus enthroned. He sits at the Father's right hand, sends the Spirit (Acts 2), reigns over all things (Ephesians 1:20–22), and always lives to make intercession for those who come to God through him (Hebrews 7:25).
