Amos (prophet)
A shepherd from Tekoa called by God to prophesy against Israel's injustice and false worship — "let justice roll down like waters."
Amos was a herdsman and tender of sycamore figs, not a professional prophet. God called him.
He denounced empty worship combined with oppression of the poor — God's people performing religious duty while crushing the needy.
His most famous line: "Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream" (5:24).
